Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
